OPNFV community elections are executed in a transparent and fair manner in accordance with the OPNFV bylaws complete by-laws.

OPNFV community elections are held annually with elected nominees service a one year term where possible. Elections are traditionally held during September at the end of the previous term for elected roles in accordance with OPNFV's annual cycle beginning October 1st.

The process is defined as follows to ensure community members are aware of an election, have an opportunity to check the voter roster, and are aware of candidates who have already nominated before themselves nominating to run.

For all OPNFV community elections full (anonymized) results detailing how many votes were tallied for which candidate, are published on the opnfv-tech-discuss mailing list to allow for independent verification of the results and transparency of the process.

For all OPNFV community elections, if unanimously agreed by all nominees the results may be published on the opnfv-tech-discuss mailing list for independent verification of the results and transparency of the process.

• Elections are announced on the 1st of September, or the date of the first TSC meeting after September 1st, on the opnfv-tech-discuss mailing list by the current TSC Chair.
  • At this time the list of eligible voters, who are also eligible to be candidates, will be published by the TSC Chair (or their designee) to the OPNFV web-site wiki allowing one week for errors and omissions to be corrected. This wiki will also include any statements/qualifications/etc… that each candidate might want to provide to the community.
• The nomination period will begin one week after announcing the election and will continue for one week, until fourteen (14) days after the election announcement and will be announced on the opnfv-tech-discuss mailing list by the TSC chair at the beginning of the election period. The announcement will include a list of all nominees and a pointer to the aforementioned wiki as a pointer for further information about each candidate. Nominations of candidates can be made either as self-nominations, or by someone else nominating a candidate. In the case of the latter, the nomination must be explicitly accepted in writing by the nominee to be valid. This must be done by sending email to the opnfv-tech-discuss mailing list by the nomination deadline. Any other means will not be accepted.
• The list of valid nominees will be announced on opnfv-tech-discuss at the end of the nomination period and posted to the community wiki. One week will be allowed for community debate and discussion, if the community so chooses. Discussion will only be allowed on the opnfv-tech-discuss mailing list.
• Polls will be open for one week, from the 21st day after announcing the election until the 28th day at which point results will be sent to opnfv-tech-discuss and posted on the wiki.

(this is according to current bylaws and aligned with the proposed process, assuming we would aim at the same election cadence even if we don't start there.)

Acceptance of non-self nominations must be made only by sending a confirmation message to the opnfv-tech-discuss mailing list to document this fact.
• The list of valid nominees will be announced on opnfv-tech-discuss at the end of the nomination period and posted to the community wiki. One full week will be allowed for community debate and discussion, which should take place only on the opnfv-tech-discuss mailing list.
• Polls will be open for one full week, from the 21st day after announcing the election until the 28th day at which point results will be sent to opnfv-tech-discuss and posted on the wiki.

• Elections are announced on the 7th of September, or the date of the first TSC meeting after September 7th, on the opnfv-tech-discuss mailing list.
• The nomination period will begin one week after announcing the election and will continue for one week, until 14 days after the election announcement. The nomination process for the TSC chairperson is by self-nomination.
• Polls will be open for one week, from the 14th day after announcing the election until the 21st day at which point results will be sent to opnfv-tech-discuss and posted on the wiki.
