Minutes of IPv6 Project Meeting on April 03, 2015

  • Date and Time: UTC 15:00, Friday April 03, 2015
  • Convenor: Bin Hu (AT&T)
  • Participants:
    • Bryan Sullivan (AT&T)
    • Iben Rodriguez (Spirent)
    • Larry Lamers (VMWare)
    • Naresh Thukkani (Criterion Networks)
    • Sridhar Gaddam (RedHat)
  • Roll call
  • Admin Update
    • RC0 available

Bin updated that RC0 is available in both Foreman ISO and Fuel ISO. So it is possible for us to converge current PoC design and packaging based on R1 installer, either Foreman or Fuel, whichever is easier. The ultimate goal is to remain consistent with official Releases, and add IPv6 specific value on top of it, including IPv6 topology that is compliant with target state of official release. This could be achieved through regular rebase.

The discussion went on possible IPv6 connectivity among various labs, and to support multisite use case. The discussion was also about priority, resource and bandwidth availability for the work of IPv6 connectivity among labs etc. The consensus is that Iben will drive the effort of multisite use case and requirement and IPv6 connectivity among multisites. Two possible use cases include:
(a) Two sites communicating with each other;
(b) IPv6 in CI (Jenkins): Because Jenkins will also be used in Functest, it needs IPv6 support so that any IPv6-related tests can be executed.

Jonne will provide update next week. Bin will ping Jonne next week so that the draft can be shared and discussed at mailing list before our group discussion at next meeting.

  • Update from Sridhar about the findings of how well IPv6 First-Hop Security can be addressed in patches, and if there is any gaps

Work in progress

  • Revision of PoC 1 design - dual stack, terminology change and 2 diagrams
    • Progress Update from Mark

Mark will provide update next week. Bin will ping Mark next week so that the draft can be shared and discussed at mailing list before our group discussion at next meeting.

  • Applying Sridhar's Anti-spoofing patch to disable anti-spoofing rule in Neutron of Juno
